This position initially provides technical expertise to the Project Delta engineering team, followed by to support to the field construction and commissioning team.  Must have hands on experience in the manufacuturing and/or engineering (including construction field support) industry.  Candidate should also have industrial analyzer and complex trouble shooting logic proficiencies.  Position provides guidance and direction on a variety of process and equipment issues, including performing detailed calculations in order to make and validate design decisions and field execution issues.  This position reports administratively to the Construction Supervisor.

Ensure correct application of internal company and industry standards to project design. Review and approve specifications for instruments, data sheets/loop diagrams and installation. Provide technical documentation support for instrumentation and systems requisitions and performs the technical evaluations. Perform/Support specification, installation, and troubleshooting for site analyzers. Monitor procurement and progression of vendor packages to ensure compliance with specification and delivery within “Required on Site” dates; Participate in FATs as required. Review and approve issue for construction drawings in the I&E discipline. Support analysis of installed quantities in the field, validation of required inspections during pre-commissioning, and development and implementation of disciplne procedures and checks during commissioning.

  • Support scope of work and execution of plant tie ins for pre-Turnaround and  Turnaround activities
  • Responsible for developing criticality analysis of instrumentation equipment and preparing subsequent work plans for predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Develop PMs for required instrumentation to have them planned and loaded in SAP maintenance module.
  • Provide construction planning support and execution expertise as required
  • Provide discipline specific oversight of CM Contractors execution activities related to planning, HSE, Quality, progress, and potential technical issues
  • Provide inspection, auditing, and field support to the construction organization to assess proper field installation of scope of work
  • Provide constructability input for discipline tasks including procedures, work packages, identification of systems, documentation, etc
  • Provide discipline input to project planning deliverables as required
  • Act as a construction resource to various project task teams
  • Champion/share best practices and other plans, systems, tools, and resources used for Construction Execution
  • Provide accurate and timely reports as needed to the Construction Manager or designee on project planning, support, and execution coordination activities
  • Review change requests and change assessments in accordance with Management of Change Plan.

Requirements:

Bachelors of Electrical Engineering.

Must have experience in capital project implementation from design and procurement stages through to field construction and start-up.

Thorough knowledge of analyzer design engineering practices and maintenance. Experience with control valve troubleshooting, design and tuning. Experience in predictive technologies; motor testing, transformer testing and UPS testing. Experience with VFD’s, PLC’s and distributed control systems. Experience with Instrumentation design, installation and maintenance.             Experience with SAP and Maximo. Experience with reliability improvement techniques such as Root Cause Analysis, Failure Modes & Effects, Reliability Centered Maintenance, and predictive maintenance techniques.

Working knowledge of electrical regulations along with some key outcomes for implementation: ETAP studies, Arc flash studies, NFPA70E program development.
