Interaction Designer

You will develop accessibility tools like Talkback spoken feedback and Brailleback support for Braille devices that will serve users with special needs. Going beyond just enabling people to use things like apps and services, we want to find new ways to become a companion in peoples lives. Your projects will have crucial impact on these users as you tackle hard technical problems and coordinate with many teams to find solutions that make Android an amazing platform for everyone.

Without the things we build, some users wouldnt be able to use an Android device at all. Were focused on opening new possibilities for these users and making new experiences possible for them.

Were looking to temporarily augment our team with a talented, accessibility-minded Interaction Designer who can join us for a period of one year.

Responsibilities: Help define the user model and user interface for new and existing accessibility products and features on Android Develop mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas Rapidly iterate on designs based on feedback from users and stakeholders Define an overall design direction for projects and collaborate with Product Managers on how that vision can be implemented across a series of releases Work with Engineering teams to ensure designs are implemented to spec and collaborate with them to come up with creative design solutions when technical challenges arise Create developer and design documentation on inclusive design practices

Minimum Requirements: BS degree in Graphic Design, similar field, or work experience equivalent 5+ years experience as an Interaction Designer Demonstrated experience in designing usable mobile interfaces Strong interaction design skills Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills Strong interest in designing for accessibility

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in designing for Android with Material Design Experience in designing for an operating system Experience in designing accessibility features Evidence of strong visual design skills
