GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • Assist engineers in basic to advanced Navy Ship drafting, designs and revisions, and make preliminary designs according to specifications receiving objectives and technical advice from supervisor or engineers.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Provide support and drafting services to designers.
  • Familiar with industry drafting and design principles related to marine systems.
  • Develop and prepare schematics from designs made by others and make preliminary designs from rough specifications and/or verbal directions.
  • Correct marked-up drawings and/or sketches to reflect desired conditions or requirements.
  • Draft sketches/drawings, and compile and compute a variety of engineering data.
  • Set up project files, lay out drawings and perform drawing file maintenance.
  • Develop 3D models and extraction for 2D drawing development .
  • Perform work with a minimum of supervisory assistance and in compliance with prior engineering determination.

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in drafting and design, or the equivalent in specialized training, or equivalent experience in lieu of education and/or specialized training.
  • Have one (1) year of experience in AutoCAD, preferred
  • Knowledgeable of shipboard systems in general, preferred

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires US citizenship and will be subject to a security investigation, must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain, and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Employee is required to access remote areas of multi-level vessels
  • Must comply with Company’s Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles
