GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • Provide waterfront support, field engineering and detailed design and engineering support for small boats.
  • Have experience in ship design, construction, planning and production and complex ship operations.
  • Provide engineering calculation, technical solutions and professional guidance for Weights, Stability and naval architect related issues.
  • Responsible for research, development, regulation adherence, and stability analysis.
  • Maintain superior customer relations and communications.
  • Strive to maintain quality products, within schedule and cost.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Work independently providing weight and moment calculations.
  • Demonstrate experience in AutoCAD and 3D-modeling (Solid Works).
  • Perform static stability analysis using General HydroStatics (GHS).
  • Perform Intact and Damage Stability analysis for new designed craft.
  • Perform Finite-Element Analysis and structural analysis.
  • Attend meetings and provide professional recommendations as requested.
  • Professionally interface with customers and vendors.
  • Provide quality products within the specifics of the naval architect requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in an open communicative environment, and be able to adapt to changing design requirements rapidly.
  • Provide project management, project supervision, planning, organizing and supervising designers / drafters and technicians.
  • Prepare engineering sketches to help designers and drafters to complete engineering drawings.
  • Check and review documents produced by other members of the department for completion and accuracy.
  • Develop and apply advance methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex technical problems.
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate projects or moderate phases of significant projects, coordinating efforts with engineers and staff.
  • Develop and perform formal technical reports summarizing analyses, calculations and engineering studies.
  • Available for CONUS and OCONUS travel.

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Requesting Mid-Level:

Junior Level:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Naval Architecture or similar degree.
  • Zero (0) to three (3) years of experience.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Have a general understanding of drawing development and review.
  • Good communication skills (Verbal and written).

Mid-Level:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Naval Architecture or similar degree.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in the maritime industry.
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, 3D modeling, Finite Element Analysis and GHS.
  • Ability and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work independently (with minimal supervision) or on project teams.
  • Strong communication, written and documentation skills.
  • Be able to multi-task in high stress situations.
  • Extensive attention to detail, ability to multi-task and the drive to take ownership in one’s work.

Possible Senior Level pending applicant.

Senior Level:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Naval Architecture or similar degree.
  • Ten (10)+ years of related experience in marine Naval Architecture design projects.
  • Proficiency in the use of industry standard Naval Architecture design tools.
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, 3D modeling and Finite Element Analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially EXCEL, essential.
  • Knowledge of all phases on the engineering discipline.
  • Ability and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work independently (with minimal supervision) or on project teams.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Boat check craft on trailers or in the water.
  • Employee is required to access remote areas of multi-level vessels
  • Must comply with Company’s Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles
