GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • The successful applicant is being hired to support an opportunity for boat overhaul in Central America.
  • Shipcheck, dis-assemble, remove, fabricate, fit, install and test various shipboard propulsion equipment and hotel systems to support overhaul.
  • Self-starter and able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Travel, Passport and United States citizenship required.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Validate dimensions on drawings or existing structure, determine required materials and tools, dis-assemble equipment to be replaced, lay out, fit and install new equipment, determine best removal and installation procedure.
  • Use various hand tools (especially for cutting, grinding and shaping metal), drill press, welding machines and welding equipment,  air compressor, generator, chain hoist, sandblaster, paint gun, grinder, forklift and other equipment to fabricate/install and mount equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions.
  • Knowledgeable and trained in safe work practices.
  • Will support mechanical, electrical and structural disciplines.
  • Assist in jobsite set-up, maintenance, restoration, and securing.
  • Prepare and cleanup work area.
  • Identify tools and materials per task and request materials as needed.
  • Must be able to perform tasks without supervision.
  • Skill in written and oral communications.
  • Skill in establishing effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

  • **Team Lead Responsibilities:
  • Direct and guide the team based on management direction in such a way that the assigned task is accomplished in the given time frame.
  • Work with managers, vendors, and customers to obtain necessary resources to support the team's requirements, and coordinate with internal and external customers as necessary.
  • Interact with project manager and customer to inform task accomplishments, issues and status.
  • Familiarize the team with the customer needs, specifications, the development process, techniques and tools to support task performance.
  • Assure that the team addresses all relevant issues within the specifications and various standards.
  • Ensure deliverables are prepared to satisfy the project requirements, cost and schedule.
  • Ability to project to the team what is expected of them in order to help keep the team focused and on track.
  • Ensure the team is contributing and collaborating well with each other.
  • Provide status reports of team activities against the program plan or schedule.
  • Serve as a focal point to communicate and resolve interface and integration issues with other teams.
  • Possess good communication skills and be able to solve problems with the help of the team and willing to participate and act on the decisions.
  • Lead by setting a good example (behavior consistent with words), motivate and inspire team, coach and help develop team members, responsible, dependable and recognize and acknowledge the contribution of team members.
  • Maintains the Quality Assurance Workbook for items related to the tasks assigned.

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 (+) years of consistent experience as a Mechanic / Machinist.
  • Journeyman or equivalent Navy training.
  • Provide own hand tools.
  • Must be a United States citizen. CDI will initiate an investigation to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Competent with repair and overhaul of equipment and components.

 

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Employee may access remote areas of multi-level vessels
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must comply with Company’s Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles
