CDI CORP is currently seeking to hire experienced Pipeline Estimators in Pittsburgh, PA. Additional details include but are not limited to:

The Estimator position provides cost estimates for the construction of steel pipelines and pipeline integrity projects using experience, pre-bid meeting notes, and construction plans to analyze the needed project resources and project budget. The estimation will include all necessary materials, manpower, equipment, as well as take into account various hazards or hardships the project might encounter (rough terrain, rock, drilling, blasting, etc.) This position works closely with company management, senior operations, estimators, subcontractors and customers. Additional duties as assigned.

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management/Engineering or 5+ years of pipeline construction experience including management/supervisory experience. Strong Microsoft Office skills required. Excellent project/time management skills required. Experience with Microsoft Project and Hard Dollar estimating software. Ability to do field takeoffs. Ability to communicate and prepare bid packages for subcontractors. Excellent customer service skills required.

• Utilizes strong project management and estimating skills to successfully complete construction project estimates on time and within the budgetary requirements set by operations management; including in the cost estimates scheduling field personnel to ensuring timely delivery of service and proper use of equipment and materials.

• Proactively promotes safe work practices and understands the position’s accountability in ensuring field personnel work in a safe manner.

• Interacts positively and professionally with Safety personnel in interpreting, developing and implementing OSHA, state and local safety practices.

• Maintains accountability and interacts with field personnel in a manner consistent with human resources practices and company policy.

• Actively participates in estimating and bidding projects, contract negotiations and change order preparation.

• Prepares and interprets drawings, graphs, maps and blue prints and prepares bid documents, contracts, proposals and specifications.

• Demonstrates competence in construction contracting practices and construction processes, methods and materials

• Demonstrates general management skills of organizing, planning, directing and monitoring construction projects and personnel.

• Leads bid review meetings with senior operations management, peers and/or customer contacts and exhibits strong customer service skills with these types of interactions.

The physical, emotional and environmental demands of this position take on the characteristics typical of the construction environment. This position will frequently perform duties where standing, sitting, walking, lifting more than 5 pounds, reaching overhead. This position has measurable performance criteria, works under deadlines and stress and periodically travels to job sites with time spent outdoors. This position regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment. Depending on time of year and work load, more than 40 hours of work each week may be required.  Some travel will be required, usually within 5 hours drive from Pittsburgh.

• 5+ years of experience working as a Pipeline Estimator.

• Minimum of 5+ years experience estimating steel pipelines from 10-30" diameter and up to 10 miles in length.
