Research Assistant - UX Research

Project Overview:

We are looking for a Research Assistant (RA) to support UX Research work on a games-related project. The RA will work closely with other researchers, supporting mostly quantitative lab-based research

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Support ongoing UX research work - by running or moderating studies, analyzing lots of quantitative data, analyzing some qualitative data, organizing research session logistics, writing detailed reports
  • Collect and analyze user behavior through benchmark studies, lab studies, and surveys
  • Work with other researchers, designers, product managers, engineers in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research
  • Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and oral presentations

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Perform statistical analyses on data collected from user studies; provide results and graphs
  • Moderate playtest-style user research sessions of 20 participants at a time
  • Support logistics related to research studies: create participant screeners, help set up the lab, collect materials, and keep the team organized

Required Skills:

Education:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science, Statistics, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1+ years’ experience conducting research on consumer-facing experiences
  • Working knowledge of statistics (regressions, ANOVAs) and the principles of experiment design
  • Familiarity with SPSS or R
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills
  • Confidence and communication skills necessary to speak in front of large groups, including directing 20 participants concurrently in a research session
  • Must be willing to work evenings and / or weekends; this is when many of the sessions take place
  • Organized and detail-oriented

Nice to Have Skills:

  • 1+ years’ experience working with other researchers on quantitative data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • 1+ years’ experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • 1+ years’ experience working with or playing digital games
