GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • This position requires working on a project team providing logistics support services in support of Technical Manual development. The selected candidate will perform technical writing, editing and revising of Army Technical Manuals (TMs). The primary emphasis is on Army watercraft TMs that describe the operation, maintenance and repair of Army watercraft at all levels of maintenance. Will consider Writers without Watercraft experience.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Develop Location and Description of Major Components Work Packages
  • Develop Operator Controls and Indicator Work Packages
  • Develop Theory Of Operation Work Packages
  • Develop Operator and Crew Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services Work Packages
  • Develop Operator and Field Maintenance Troubleshooting Work Packages
  • Develop Special Lists Work Packages
  • Develop Maintenance Allocation Chart Work Packages
  • Develop Field and Sustainment Maintenance Work Packages
  • Develop Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists Work Packages (RPSTLs)
  • Develop Lubrication Orders
  • Conduct Ship Checks
  • Interpret Drawings, Blue prints, and Schematics
  • Assist in the Development of Illustrations
  • Perform Quality Assurance Inspections on Peer Developed Work Packages
  • Meet Production Goals
  • Participate in Production Meetings
  • XML experience a plus

 

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful candidate will have three years’ experience writing and editing of Army TMs, experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings for Army Watercraft, ability to determine illustrations needed for publication and to develop rough sketches to assist the illustrator. Excellent computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products, and familiarity with Military Documentation Standards (MILSTDS) also required. Experience in Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) development, working with Army Watercraft and knowledge of HM&E (Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Equipment) is strongly desired. Substantial, verifiable experience in Army watercraft maintenance and training may be substituted for the technical writing experience..

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Employee may access remote areas of multi-level vessels
  • Must comply with Company’s Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles
