JOB DESCRIPTION
CDI Corp. is currently recruiting candidates for an exciting opportunity located in Arlington, VA.

As a Civil Engineer you will provide a wide range of professional engineering services and technical consultation to carry out the design and construction of projects in all civil structural and seismic engineering aspects of the design and construction of safe, secure, and fully functional facilities at overseas diplomatic posts throughout the world. Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.  In furtherance of these responsibilities, the contractor performs tasks and assignments that include the following: 

• Works closely with assigned design manager on the design of a specific engineering construction project, to ensure timely and correct technical information is available to top management.
• Reviews and revises drawings, calculations, and specifications related to civil structural and seismic work, including design proposals suggested by tenant agencies as well as other federal agencies whose requirements impact DOS facilities.  Correlates proposals with contract architects and engineers.
• Develops and ensures the applicability of current engineering criteria relating to the geotechnical and structural design of buildings; serves as an authority on geotechnical and structural design standards; and assists the Office of Facility Management in establishing criteria and standards governing civil structural and seismic engineering aspects of facility operations, maintenance and repair.
• Serves as a consultant to post management regarding buildings and sites that have been damaged by earthquake, fires, explosions, storms, flooding, erosion or settlement problems, and other phenomena.
• Review and makes recommendations of approval for civil structural and seismic project plans; review civil structural engineering aspects of minor improvement proposals and maintenance and repair proposals; develop, design, and review projects related to the renovation of a building; review and consult on civil structural and seismic engineering aspects of buildings to be purchased or leased by OBO to ensure compliance with OBO criteria; and represent OBO on technical civil/structural engineering matters on interagency committees relating to OBO activities and policies associated with civil and structural engineering design.
