Analog Digital Engineer

Job Summary:

This position will provide analog / digital circuit card assembly (CCA) design services to design and detail BUC components. The candidate will

  • Design, test, and troubleshoot analog and digital electronics circuits of medium and high complexity
  • Provide technical guidance for the definition and selection of analog filters, transistor circuits, op-amp circuits, interface circuits, signal conditioning, A / Ds, D / As, on-board power supplies, etc.
  • Provide technical guidance for the definition and selection of digital filters, logic circuits, complex logic, microcontrollers, I / O and communication interface circuits, logic families, digital memory, etc.
  • Specify and select discrete components (capacitors, resistors, inductors, semiconductors, connectors, etc.)
  • Provide guidance for the layout of PCBs; define power planes, critical circuits, and circuit board materials
  • Perform control stability measurements and analysis on various analog circuits and propose solutions to improve performance
  • Define, select, and specify magnetics (inductors and transformers) for analog circuits, including materials
  • Create designs that minimize parasitic RLC and follow EMI / EMC best practices as they apply analog and digital
  • Work with team members who are designing additional power stage and control/protection components such as PWB’ s, CCA, IGBT’ s, power diodes, etc. 

 

Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the analog and digital CCA design and testing aspects of the high-speed power conversion equipment from conception to production, involving significant scope and complexity.
  • The candidate will utilize their experience or expertise to document the design including providing design details and specifications for source controlled (or similar) drawing.
  • Execute and complete the electrical design work including any required detailed analysis.  Detailed analysis shall be performed based on internal GE design standards and specifications, customer requirements, derating requirements, military specifications (MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, etc.), and commercial specifications (DO-160, DO-254, etc.)
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to produce the designs
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Work is to be performed under the direction and guidance of Lead Engineers and the Engineering Project Manager

 

Job Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • BSEE (MSEE preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Analog/Digital Designer position
  • Minimum of 10 years of overall engineering design experience
  • Experience in aerospace industry highly desirable
  • Ability to utilize analysis tools such as PSPICE, Matlab Simulink, and ANSYS
  • Experience in electrical design including analog and digital electronics highly desirable
  • Ability to work with others
  • Ability to work in a laboratory / drive cell environment
  • Ability to lift equipment and hardware up to 40 lbs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Design to Cost
