Procurement Specialist Intern

Location: Beltsville, MD

Terms: Long Term Contract

Overview and Requirements:

  • Provide a practical business and educational experience to a qualified college student in the area of Supply Management. Students will go through a series of instructional sessions during which they will be taught key elements of an effective supplier management program and the Siemens approach to managing its supply base.

Elements include:

  • Supplier and subcontractor identification, approval, and control
  • Supplier rationalization and diversifying the supply base
  • Supplier evaluation and development
  • Utilization of Supplier Comparison Factors for the award of business
  • Pay Term Structures and Working Capital Management
  • Supply Chain Financing Programs and Related Business Case
  • Project life cycle
  • Students will be immersed in the practical application of the principles and techniques by assisting a Field Procurement Manager in the implementation of a Supply Management program in various markets served by Building Technologies. Students will be required to interface with internal company cross-functional partners such as Sales and Operations personnel, as well as, with key suppliers.
  • The student participant will be evaluated based on quantitative key performance indicators and with respect to specific capabilities regards as key to business success.
  • Candidates will be responsible for some, if not all of the following tasks/duties:
  • Sourcing, qualifying, negotiating, awarding, and documenting subcontracts. The procurement specialist must have experience in preparing RFPs and RFQs and understand the fundamentals of total cost of ownership, consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet schedule requirements. This position will ensure that projects requirements are properly met.
