GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

CDI Government Services is currently recruiting a Space Arrangement Engineer in Washington DC for the IWS 8.0 program. 

  • Main responsibility of this engineering position is to develop and maintain the Frigate Combat System space arrangement, equipment installation and interface drawings that are part of the TDP
  • Ultimately responsible for ensuring new equipment can be installed aboard the ships
  • Requires AutoCAD and /or other drawing and modeling experience
  • This position reports to the Senior Design Engineer/Integrator

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Review government and/or contractor furnished information as required to support design development. Report deficiencies within the GFI/CFI to the government sponsor
  • Determine the correct Combat System space/spaces to receive equipment based on operational requirements and other supporting data
  • Determine the proper location within a Combat System space to position the equipment based on parametric data such as rack height, width, depth, maintenance accesses, cable clearances, etc.
  • Model the proposed equipment in the Combat System spaces to ensure equipment will fit and be usable by the sailor
  • Maintain Configuration Management of the Combat System spaces
  • Provide options and alternative equipment locations when required
  • Lead or participate in ship checks to accomplish surveys of the Combat System spaces
  • Develop Power Point presentations as required
  • Participate in meetings and phone conferences when required by the government sponsor
  • Assist in the resolution of Combat System space arrangement issues occurring on the waterfront during equipment installations
  • Report to the Senior Design Engineer/Integrator

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience and a minimum of BA/BS degree is required in engineering, math or relevant field.  A Professional Engineer’s license may substitute for 2 years of experience. 
  • AutoCAD and / or other drawing and modeling experience
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Proficient with Microsoft products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant must have a current Secret clearance and may be subject to a security investigation to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift objects up to 30 lbs.
  • Must comply with Company’s Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles
