Safety Field Specialist position ensures compliance with company's Health and Safety and Environmental (HSE) activities for assigned operations. Additional details include but are not limited to:

• Support (HSE) requirements as mandated by company policies, procedures and regulatory agencies, including DOT and OSHA.
• Monitor workplaces and work activities to assure safe work procedures and practices are being followed
• Promote the organizations safety culture that ensures accountability and personal responsibility for the safety of its workers and maintaining a safe work place
• Support and communicate accident prevention activities as directed or needed

Assist in incident investigations help to determine root cause(s).  Implement corrective actions as directed.

• Assist in injury/illness case management as directed.. 
• Perform safely audits involving company employees and sub-contractors and provide reports as required by the HSE Manager.
• Provide positive, proactive leadership by example
• Recommend safety improvement/accident prevention methods
• Work with operations management to integrate the company’s safety culture into daily work activities. Conduct training and ensure quality assurance on job sites and/or facilities.

This position requires a minimum of an Associate Degree in Safety or related field and/or a minimum of two (2) years construction experience in Safety.  Candidate must have knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA laws and regulations. Safety experience in the utility construction industry.

Additional criteria for the Safety Coordinator position are as follows:

• Current valid driver’s license
• Able to travel regularly with overnights as needed
• Strong interpersonal & problem-solving skills

Must be able to work productively with limited direct supervision. The demands, conditions and hazards of the position are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The physical demands of the position involve basic activities such as standing, walking and sitting as well as pulling, lifting, carrying and pushing. The emotional demands involve contact with the general public, management, and employees. This position will also require traveling daily/overnight. The locations of the everyday activities of the position take place outside in varying weather conditions.
