Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY

The Plastic Department Mechanic performs necessary steps in insure that all molding machines operate as required to achieve optimum production goals while maintaining established standards of Safety and Quality within the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS

  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment. Overhaul and install new equipment.
     
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and providing immediate preventative and corrective maintenance support to production lines and facilitating change-over.
     
  • Rebuild and fabricate parts.
     
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
     
  • Generate parts request to ensure adequate inventory.
     
  • Generate and complete work orders, using PM system, as assigned.
     
  • Perform equipment change-overs and production line set ups.
    Work within cross functional teams to develop strategies for improving plant performance.
  • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Mix components of resin as indicated on work order in the event that the Plastic Mixer is not available in order to maintain schedule.
  • Adjust machines as needed to insure that established levels of Quality are obtained during production.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 1+ years of mechanical/electrical experience required
  • Able to read and understand the specifics of a Manufacturing Order.
  • Must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude and learn the mechanics required to service all machines within the department as necessary.
  • 1-5 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Prior diagnostic/troubleshooting and preventative maintenance experience preferred.
  • Previous experience within high-speed industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to follow manufacturers specifications and schematics.
  • Programmable Logic Control (PLC) knowledge preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

Computer Skills

  • Minimum amount of computer skills for proper reporting and documentation.

Certificates & Licenses

  • Must be able to operate forklift following on-site training and certification.

Other Requirements

  • Attend regularly scheduling meetings with Department Head to discuss areas of improvement.

Work Schedule:  12 hour rotating shifts
