CDI Corporation is currently recruiting candidates for a few Senior Engineer (Mechanical / Test – Aircraft seating) opportunities located in Colorado Springs, CO 80916

 

Estimated contract duration: 6 months plus (with possibility of 2 years)

 

Position Purpose/Objective: 

The test engineer works as part of the design engineering team to identify, execute, and document testing required for certification and/or qualification of aircraft seating products to customer and regulatory requirements.  The test engineer is responsible for support of product specification development, creation of test plans/procedures, design and acquisition of test fixtures, execution of testing at both in-house and 3rd party facilities, analysis of test results, and reporting of the test results.  The test engineer should either possess, or be willing to obtain an, FAA delegation as a Designated Engineering Representative (DER) in Structures.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conduct, and document development, certification, and qualification testing
  • Design test fixtures, create figures for test plans, and interrogate design configurations using Unigraphics/NX and Team Center
  • Visualize, develop, and implement innovative test methods and data collection opportunities
  • Provide technical support to Design Engineering, Project Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality for new product introduction and sustainment of fielded products
  • Communicate with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies regarding product compliance
  • Support Engineering Management and Business Development with creation of proposals for new business opportunities by identifying and estimating testing related tasks
  • Participation and/or leadership of continuous improvement activities/teams

 

Education:

BA/BS degree in Engineering in a mechanical field of study; other degrees may be considered based on practical experience w/7+ years’ experience

 

Experience Required: 

At least 7 years of experience with planning, conducting, analyzing, and reporting qualification (vibration, temperature, humidity, etc.) testing.

 

Preferred:

  • Mechanical engineering design experience
  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative with Structures Delegation
  • Unigraphics/NX CAD experience
  • Knowledge of military and/or commercial aerospace certification requirements

  

Skills Required:   

The position requires strong interpersonal skills, high degree of comfort with ambiguity, good project discipline, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently.  Interaction with customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities is routinely required.  The successful applicant must be willing to work beyond core hours, and weekends (when required); and regularly travel to support certification/qualification activities.  Above average PC, data processing (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) skills are a must.  Familiarity with CAD systems is essential and knowledge of NX is a plus.
