ROLE

The Project Engineer will be responsible for activities relating to the Continuous Operational Safety of FAA approved Commercial Aviation components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Working with Sustaining Engineering team to complete Design Change packages through FAA approval

• Updating and maintaining manufacturing drawings for airworthy flight hardware using Solidworks

• Developing and updating sustainable product quality and inspection plans as well as gaging and tool design as needed

• Providing timely Engineering support to company’s supplier base; reviewing supplier documentation to ensure compliance to drawings and industry specifications

• Supporting Quality Assurance department and vendors regarding drawing interpretation, manufacturing methods, inspection methods, maintaining and updating process sheets, etc.

• Being an active participant on our internal Material Review Board in an engineering capacity

• Assisting with Continuous Operational Safety initiatives for tracking and trending of legacy products

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2-5 years’ experience working in any engineering field; mechanical design and materials processing experience in an Aerospace field is preferred

• Self-driven with an ability to manage many internal and external project milestones while producing high quality work

• Strong understanding of engineering principles including structural/stress analysis and material science.  Knowledge of manufacturing processes, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and machine design is preferred.

• Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills

• Have strong technical writing skills with attention to detail

• Experience using 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES

• Computer Skills:  MS Office, 3D CAD software (Pro-E, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc)
• Reasoning Abilities and Communication Skills:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and present findings to a group.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position will work primarily in an office environment with low noise level

Some travel may be required to visit and audit suppliers
