Head of Sales & Business Development for Rail Signaling

Description
As the Head of Sales and Business Development, you will lead business development strategies and activities in Region Americas (North & South America). You will be responsible for enhancing market penetration of signaling products and solutions with a focus on mass transit, commuter rail and light rail transit customers, as well as North American Class 1 Railroads and industrial mining customers. You and your team will identify opportunities, strategize capture plans, prepare bids, and lead negotiations.

In your role you will:
- Lead business development and sales strategies for Region Americas – Rail Signaling
- Develop key leads and strategic opportunities, culminating in order intake from new (external) customers;
- Devise capture plans and winning sales strategies;
- Obtain internal mandate (commercial, contractual & technical) for negotiation with customers;
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, such as bid hit rate and order intake;
- Manage partnerships with subcontractors and consortium partners for new opportunities;
- Manage and recommend the decision to “go or no-go” for a bid;
- Lead and guide a team of bid managers to provide direction on key opportunities and drive focus on priority bids;
- Manage the internal governance process to review bids (Blue Book) and achieve required mandates for proposal and negotiation;
- Lead the proposal preparation and negotiation strategy;
- Manage a bid budget and take accountability for achieving that budget;
- Monitor and gather key industry intelligence on markets and competition or competitive performance;

Qualifications
- You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or a related discipline; an MBA in Marketing or business related function will be considered an asset;
- You possess at least ten (10) years of experience in a Sales or a Business Development role within the rail / signaling industry;
- You demonstrate a proven track record of achieving sales results;
- You possess strong negotiation and influencing skills;
- You demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office and other internet applications;
- You demonstrate the ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams;
- You possess critical attention to detail and deadlines, and are self-motivated;
- You adapt well to change in direction and priorities in a project and deadline-oriented environment;
- Your ability to be conversational in Spanish is required
- Your English communication skills are excellent.
