UNIX System Administration Support

On behalf of our client in the Information Technology sector, Asset, a CDI Company (or CDI Professional Services) is seeking a Unix System Administration Support with enter main skills or one line highlight here.

Job Responsibilities:

System Administration support for Unix AIX and Linux server platform, primarily at the OS level, in providing day to day (problem/change), security compliance, and project support for a commercial account.  

  • Problem Management - response, analysis, determination, resolution, root cause analysis, and on-call off hour support.
  • Change Management - plan, schedule, create, execute/implement, and understanding of the process.  Server Backup/Restore support.  Security compliance - APAR patching, User ID management, health check remediation, server build/hardening, and audit support. 
  • AIX and Linux Server version upgrades and ability to setup a frames and clusters. 
  • Ability to create, run, and implement various type of scripts associated with AIX and Linux support.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Proven (5-10 years) knowledge and experience with Versions 5, 6, and 7 AIX.
  • Intermediate (3-5 years) knowledge and experience with Versions 4, 5, and 6 Linux Red Hat. 
  • Proven 5 years knowledge and experience in support of Power HA and HACMP. 
  • Must be located or willing to relocate at Atlantic Proximity Centre site in Florenceville or St John, New Brunswick, Canada.
  • Must demonstrate organization and communication skills, as there will be some direct customer interface. 
  • Must be willing to accept 24x7 on-call support responsibilities as part of a rotation schedule.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Understanding with Problem and Change processes and tools. 
  • Understanding of server build and security compliance hardening standards and processes. 
  • Formal AIX and Linux recognized training and certifications.
  • Formal Power HA or HACMP training and certification.
