Project Manager

HOUSTON, Texas

CDI CORP is seeking to hire an experienced Project Manager to join the Texas Engineering Center Operations located in SW Houston.

Project Manager - The Project Manager manages a wide variety of projects (typically $5MM to $100MM TIC) for Chemical's Industry Clients.  Primarily responsible for projects in the Houston / SE Texas Area.  Day travel may be required.  Home office for this person will be in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The Project Manager has the primary responsibility for execution of Capital and Expense Projects from front end development (Assess, Select & Define phases) to detailed design and construction (Execute phase) including procurement, cost control and schedule management. 
  • Accountable for delivering projects safely.
  • Ability to manage several project simultaneously with competing priorities in various execution phases on a wide variety of manufacturing processes.
  • Develops project scopes in collaboration with Client Operations, Process Engineering and Discipline Representatives.
  • Accountable for ensuring the proper technical authority approves the design including the appropriate technical authority of equipment specification and drawings.
  • Oversees engineering execution.
  • Works with Project Controls department to develop project cost estimates and schedules for each phase and for final project funding.
  • Accountable for meeting project cost and schedule requirements and providing accurate forecasting.

Qualifications & Skills Required include but are not limited to:

  • 10+ years of Project Management experience in downstream petrochemical or refining industries. 
  • PMP is a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied engineering and design disciplines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between various disciplines required.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering technology, codes, standards, etc.
  • Education/degree Requirements: Bachelor in Engineering - preferred
  • PE License a huge plus
  • PMP value add
