CDI Corporation is currently recruiting candidates for a Supplier Quality Engineer / Quality Specialist opportunity located in Los Angeles, CA 90001

 

Estimated contract duration: 10-12 months

 

Work location: Normal schedule allows for working remotely out of home office 1 week and then the following week in the office and/or at the various supplier offices (suppliers are in and around the Los Angeles, CA area)

 

Business unit presentation:

Supply Management is a global, Agile, lean and high performance organization responsible for the procurement of over $1B in annual spend.

  • Responsibilities range from: strategic sourcing, supplier development, contract negotiation, quality and delivery assurance.
  • Key initiatives include: global source development, cost reduction programs, new engine product development, and quality management.

The Supply Management Quality Department is a dynamic technical organization, making up approximately 30% of the Supply Management organization. Mandated with proactively and systemically improving supplier quality while ensuring compliance to Transport Canada regulations as well as Company corporate quality procedures, SMQ must also ensure containment, rapid root cause analysis and permanent corrective/preventive actions when quality issues arise. 

 

Job description:

Supply Management Quality professionals are needed to lead and drive proactively key initiatives to manage suppliers’ quality in order to ensure consistent material flow while maintaining product integrity.

 

Main responsibilities:

Manages all aspects of assigned suppliers’ quality ensuring full accountability for both their own quality and associated sub-tiers

  • Responsible for leading activities to permanently resolve non conformities produced in the supply chain, emphasizing product & process validation and process control.
  • Lead Escape Management process to rapidly define and contain supplier quality issues, coordinates MRB actions and manages permanent corrective and preventive action plans in a timely manner.
  • Drive Corrective Action Boards with suppliers, ensuring not only escape management activities, but also all other issues affecting product and process quality, cost of poor quality and on-time delivery, are rapidly closed with validated Root Cause, Corrective and Preventive Actions in place.
  • Proactively supports the Company Supplier Gold program to ensure healthy continuous improvement and sustainability.
  • Ensures all requirements are met for transitioning including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.
  • Works cooperatively with all other supplier functional and strategic support (e.g. Manufacturing Analysts/Engineers, Technical Specialists, Supplier Quality Assurance, Material Review, hourly Quality Review and Inspectors, Design Engineers, Account Specialists, Material Planners, etc.) as well as with all internal customers to ensure all external customer’s expectations are met.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering/Applied Sciences, preferably > 5 years of experience
  • Technical degree acceptable with extensive experience in related quality and manufacturing operations
  • Manufacturing and/or aerospace experience
  • Metallurgical background with experience in casting and/or forging (a major plus)

 

 Professional abilities:

  • Fluent with English and if bilingual in French (a plus)
  • Quality Systems Management (Aerospace standards & procedures an asset)
  • Demonstrated use of quality tools such as D-PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, etc.
  • ACE Associate or equivalent, continuous improvement/lean experience
  • Good Material Requirement Planning (MRP) knowledge (SAP an asset)
  • Red-X Apprentice or equivalent, technical problem solving experience
  • Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • AS9100 certified a PLUS – at minimum experienced with working with AS9100 standards

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASQ CQE, ASQ CQM or equivalent Quality qualifications/certifications
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certifications, higher Red-X levels.
