CDI Inc., is looking for qualified candidates to fill the role of Technical Writer. It is expected to be 12 month assignment. This would be a W2 position with our company, CDI, and you would work onsite at our client’s location in Mountain View, CA. Technical Writer

Project Overview:

Stories is a platform for delivering high quality, animated or live action interactive short stories for mobile and VR devices. Each story showcases the talent of leading directors, artists, and storytellers from the feature film and animation industries, in our unique mobile medium.

 

We are looking for a structured, versatile and experienced technical writer who will play a key role in helping us building our material for our Story Development Kit, targeted towards film and creative studios. If you have experience as a technical writer on teams that were producing tools, for artists, then we are interested in talking to you. In this role you'll be a critical member of a fast-paced cross-functional startup team and must thrive in a high energy, time-constrained, multitasking environment.

Overall responsibilities: Write clear and succinct documentation for a developer audience, including SDK tool guides, API how-to guides, and technical concept guides Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by graphics or tools engineers

 

Design good information architecture, advocate best practices, and foster a culture for documentation. Manage complex documentation projects and maintain organization within a large website

Learn complex technical information and write artist-focused documentation-including overviews, tutorials, best practices, and FAQs.

 

Manage community-driven docs and drive active contributions.

 

Top 3 daily responsibilities: Write clear and succinct documentation for a developer audience, including SDK tool guides, API how-to guides, and technical concept guides Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by graphics or tools engineers

 

Designs good information architecture, advocate best practices, and foster a culture for documentation.

 

Required skills:

Must have 5+ years of experience in creating artist and technical-artist facing support content.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong project management skills.

Demonstrated ability to grasp complex technical concepts and communicate them to a non-technical audience.

Proven track record of researching and writing effective documentation for developers, including architectural overviews and programming guides.

Experience working closely with engineers.

Strong project management skills.

Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

 

Nice to have:

Experience with 2D, 3D and animation tools.

Experience working for a film studio or a creative agency a plus.

BA/BS degree with a strong writing component.
