Sr. Project Cost Manager

SUMMARY:

The Sr. Project Cost Manager is responsible for producing cost estimates at different levels of design for use in budget development, cost planning, value engineering studies, and change order review of customized turnkey data center and telecom infrastructure solutions. The Sr. Project Cost Manager will work collaboratively across business units and external partners to develop cost estimates that involve project pricing influences and deployments in various geographical locations.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales Support:

  • Develop process/guidelines for project cost estimate generation that sets clear expectations among the team on:
    • Fidelity/Accuracy of quotes based on differing levels of information
    • Inputs/output required by different functional groups in order to effectively create project cost budgets in a timely manner
    • Define SLA expectations for inputs/outputs and hold departments responsible to meeting SLA’s.
  • Provide performance estimates to the sales team that enable early project pursuit based on budgetary guidance.
  • Provide exquisite support of sales based on defined SLA’s to provide project cost analysis to enable closing of deals

Project Budget Development:

  • In conjunction with the functional, teams, prepare accurate and detailed project cost estimates from early project pursuit (sales) through to detailed project budget creation.
  • Work with the global supply chain and construction teams to ensure accuracy of regional pricing of material and labor using published documents and market data
  • Provide advice on local construction market to support pricing and risk evaluation.  Interface with the supply chain team to assess availability of competitive supply chain.
  • Work closely with Solutions Architecture team to develop a mutual understanding of inputs/outputs required and associated SLA’s to provide effective project cost budgets.
  • Set up estimate work breakdown structure to align with budget and cost reporting system
  • Prepare detailed bid analysis and review sessions with project teams and senior management
  • Establish and maintain a cost database for future data center solutions
  • Perform peer review of estimates generated by other functional teams involved in the data center project solution
  • Work in partnership with engineering teams and participate in design and construction meetings to guide design solutions with cost efficiencies
  • Where required and directed support the execution delivery team in assessing and pricing major change orders on live projects.
  • Work with the Project Management Director to produce monthly project reports on estimating activities

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand customized solutions for modular data centers

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required.)

  • Demonstrate success in leading and producing cost estimates for modular solutions
  • Exhibit knowledge of general construction with strength in data center technology and MEP systems
  • Experience in managing internal customers and external vendors
  • Manages multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. Demonstrates ability to plan, set priorities, organizes and coordinates work with others
  • Effectively communicates technical information and complex ideas.
  • Effectively demonstrates public speaking skills both in prepared presentations and impromptu speaking
  • Is persuasive, demonstrates diplomacy and tact.
  • Demonstrates professionalism (e.g., cooperation, courtesy, assertiveness, and non-defensiveness, accepting constructive criticism, and maintaining confidences).
  • Demonstrates good customer relation skills by providing prompt personalized service.
  • Effectively handles stressful situations (resolving conflicts and meeting deadlines)

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: (The minimum education, certification, special training and years of experience required to do a satisfactory job.)

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Construction Management Construction Surveying or related field
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in a senior position managing cost estimating
  • Knowledge in project scheduling
